Private Tours in Montenegro from Budva with an English-Speaking Guide

I am Sergey, a private guide based in Budva. I have worked in tourism since 2009 and have lived in Montenegro since 2018, so the routes below come from knowing the country rather than from a guidebook. Private tours are guided in English.

One thing worth saying up front: my scheduled group excursions are guided in Russian. If you want a tour in English, book a private one — the whole car and the whole day are yours, and nothing is shared with strangers.

What a private tour means here

Only your party travels. There is no fixed departure time to catch and no bus of forty people to wait for. We agree the route beforehand, and on the day you can linger where you like, skip what does not interest you, or stop for a swim because the water looked good. Pick-up is from your accommodation in Budva, Bečići, Rafailovići, Petrovac, Tivat or Kotor.

Old Town Budva walking tour

A walk through the oldest part of the Adriatic coast: the main squares, the narrow streets, the Citadel and the town church, and the legend of how Budva was founded. A good first evening in Montenegro, and easy to combine with dinner afterwards.

Canyons and Durmitor National Park, one day

The north of the country in a single day: the Black Lake in Durmitor National Park, the Tara river canyon, the Đurđevića bridge, the Morača canyon and the Morača monastery. On a private tour we set the departure time together rather than leaving before dawn.

Northern Montenegro over two days

The same landscapes without the rush, staying overnight in eco-lodges at the highest point of the country. Day one covers Skadar Lake, Durmitor, the canyons, the Đurđevića bridge, monasteries and the Sedlo pass; day two takes in Piva Lake. Car, guide, breakfast in the mountains and the eco-lodge stay are included.

Tara river rafting

Rafting on the Tara, the deepest canyon in Europe. The descent itself takes about two and a half hours through 24 rapids of moderate difficulty, with an instructor in every boat. No experience is needed, and children from the age of five can take part. Wetsuits and all equipment are provided.

Food and wine tour

Montenegrin cooking as locals actually eat it: village prosciutto and cheese, fresh seafood, Vranac and Krstač wines, and homemade rakija. The route runs to family-run places rather than restaurants on the promenade.

Sea fishing from Budva

Fishing with an experienced captain on a 28-foot boat, up to six people. Tackle, bait, live bait, the licence, snacks and drinks are included. Three formats: three hours, six to eight hours, or a full day of eight hours targeting tuna.

Yacht charter from Budva

A day on the water along the Budva Riviera. Popular routes: the short run to St Nikola island with a swimming stop, the coastline past Sveti Stefan, the bays and beaches between Budva and Petrovac that can only be reached from the sea, and a full day in the Bay of Kotor. Suitable for couples, families and small celebrations alike.

Prices

Private tours are quoted per trip rather than per person, because the price depends on the route, the season and how many of you there are. Send me the dates and what you would like to see and I will give you a firm figure. For reference, my scheduled group excursions run from 45 to 130 euro per person, so a private day for two or three people is often closer than people expect.

Payment

No prepayment is required. You pay on the day, in cash or by card.

Cancellation

Free of charge. Nothing is withheld — plans change on holiday, and that is normal. Just send a message so the day can be freed up.

Crossing borders

Trips to Dubrovnik in Croatia, to Albania and to Bosnia and Herzegovina cross an international border. Document requirements depend on your citizenship: for some travellers a passport is enough, for others a visa is needed. Message me before booking and we will check it against your passport.

Private tours are. Scheduled group excursions are guided in Russian, so if you want English, book a private tour.

Can you collect us from our hotel?

Yes, from anywhere in Budva, Bečići, Rafailovići, Petrovac, Tivat or Kotor. We agree the time when you book.

How far in advance should I book?

The earlier the better in July and August, when good dates go quickly. Outside the high season a few days is usually enough.
